Prof. Richard Spence, the author of Secret Agent 666 – Aleister Crowley, British Intelligence, and the Occult, having heard Gaston de Mengel’s re-telling of the Green Dragon story in Chasing the Green Dragon, came up with the intriguing theory that “the Englishman with connections to the British Intelligence”, who supposedly met the “Man with the Green Gloves” in Berlin in the early 1930’s, might have been none other than Aleister Crowley.

In their podcast “Strange as it Seems,” Dr Spence and Stephen Austin also trace the Asian Dragon societies that might – or might not! – be connected to the distinctly European series of events chronicled in Chasing the Green Dragon. But perhaps a “spoiler alert” might be issued as a caveat: to obtain the optimal reading experience, I advise reading Chasing the Green Dragon first before venturing further into the Dragonsphere!
What comes to the “Englishman” (who is called “James Nobody” by “Teddy Legrand”), I definitely do not rule out the possibility that he is in some way connected to the story – or at least those aspects of the story that Gaston de Mengel saw no reason to doubt (once again, I’m trying to avoid spoilers!) After all, we know that the Beast was in Berlin from 1930 to 1932…
